What We Believe

"And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."  - Jesus

Core Beliefs

The following are the core beliefs of Movement Church based on the foundational truths found in the Bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these basic principles.

God

Mat 28:19, Col 1:16, Heb 13:8, Rev 4:11

There is one eternally existing God who has three distinct Persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. He is the Creator of all that exists, both visible and invisible, and is therefore worthy of all glory and praise. God is perfect in love, power, holiness, goodness, knowledge, wisdom, justice, and mercy. He is unchangeable and is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Mankind

Gen 1:27, 1:31, 2:15

Humans, both male and female, were created in God’s image. The first humans, Adam and Eve, were created without sin and were appointed as caretakers of the rest of God’s creation under Him.

The Fall

Rom 5:12, Is 59:2

When Adam and Eve chose not to obey God, they became separated from Him, falling out of fellowship with Him and fracturing all of creation from that time forward.

Salvation

2 Cor 5:18-21, 1 Cor 15:3-4, Eph 2:8

Jesus Christ came to reconcile us to God, destroying the works of the devil. He lived a sinless life and willingly died on the cross to pay the penalty for our transgressions. God raised Him from the dead, and now, by grace, offers eternal life as a free gift to all who follow Christ by faith as Lord and Savior. That is why salvation is found in Christ alone.

The Church

1 Cor 12:12, 27, Mark 16:15

The Church is the body of Christ consisting of all Christians.  We are commissioned to go into all the world and preach the gospel of Jesus Christ.

The Holy Spirit

John 16:7-8, 14:26, 16:13, 1 Cor 12, Acts 1:8

The Holy Spirit is present in the world today to make people aware of their need for a Savior. He is our Comforter, Counselor, and Helper, who leads and guides us. The Holy Spirit also empowers believers with spiritual gifts and fills us until we overflow with God’s power.

The Bible

2 Tim 3:16-17, He 4:12, Mat 7:24

The Bible is God's Word to us. It is the absolute truth and guide for Christian belief and living. It is complete and perfect in itself. The Word of God is alive and powerful and is the foundation for every Christian endeavor.
