Spirit-Filled

Series Overview

In our ‘Spirit-Filled’ series, children will learn about who the Holy Spirit is and the important role He plays in the life of every believer. They will discover that the Holy Spirit is not just a feeling or an idea—He is a real person who helps us, teaches us, guides us, and empowers us to live for Jesus. We’ll explore how the Holy Spirit is just like Jesus in character and purpose, learn about the powerful events of Pentecost, and talk about how the Holy Spirit still speaks and works in believers’ lives today. Our prayer is that children will grow in their understanding of the Holy Spirit’s presence, become more confident in hearing His voice, and learn to depend on Him daily.

5/31/2026 Lesson Overview

This week, children learned that the Holy Spirit is not just a feeling or a concept, but a real person who is with us and helps us every day. Through the story of Jesus’ baptism and Jesus’ promise to send the Holy Spirit to us, children discovered that the Holy Spirit was with Jesus and is with believers today as our Helper and Guide. Children also participated in a “Getting to Know You” activity to help them understand that we can grow in our relationship with the Holy Spirit by spending time with Him, just like we would with a friend. They learned that through their relationship with the Holy Spirit, He actively helps them love others, make good choices, and follow Jesus.
Foundational Verse:
“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.”John 14:26, NKJV

Memory Verse

John 14:16, NLT
“And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, who will never leave you.”

Keep the Conversation Going at Home

Our heart is to partner with you in nurturing your child’s faith. We believe discipleship begins in the home, and when families talk about God together and involve Him in daily life, it makes a lasting impact. These simple ideas can help you keep the conversation going throughout the week:

Our Helper:

Talk together about what it means that the Holy Spirit is a real person who helps us every day. Share examples of times your child has needed help making a good choice.

God With Us:

Remind your child that Jesus promised the Holy Spirit would be with us forever. Talk about how comforting it is to know God is not far away, but with us all the time.

Pray Together:

Take time as a family to thank God for sending the Holy Spirit. Thank Him for helping your family love others, make good choices, and follow Jesus.

Discuss as a Family:

Use simple, ongoing conversations to help your child remember and apply what they learned. This can be easily incorporated in your day-to-day routine. Try asking these questions during dinner, in the car, or right before bed:
  • “In the Bible story you read at church, what happened when Jesus was baptized? What did the Holy Spirit do?” (Matthew 3:15-17)
  • “How did the ‘Getting to Know You’ activity at church help you understand what it means to build a relationship with the Holy Spirit? Why is it important to listen when we pray?”
